Recipe: Mmm...Frozen Treats for Pups

Don’t forget that pups enjoy treats at the holidays, too!  Spring is in the air and that means bunnies hopping everywhere.  As determined as your pup is to catch the bunny this Easter, it’s more likely he/she will enjoy a homemade treat from you.  So spoil your pups with some healthy frozen treats fresh from your kitchen. 


Check out this quick and easy recipe for frozen dog treats.  You only need 5 ingredients and they're probably in your kitchen already.  Take ten minutes to whip up a batch - your dog will thank you (and so will the bunny)!

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 c frozen fruit (strawberries, bananas, or mango)
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1/4 c plain Greek nonfat yogurt
  • 2/3 c coconut water (or water)
  • Blueberry or blackberry jam (for eyes)
  • Candy mold tray (silicone works best)

Instructions:

  • Mix frozen fruit, peanut butter, yogurt, and coconut water in a blender. Blend until smooth.
  • Pour mixture into molds and place in the freezer for 3 hours (until molds are hard).
  • Remove tray from freezer and gently push from bottom to remove treats.
  • Dip a toothpick in jam to create eyes and nose.
  • Refreeze in an airtight container until ready to eat. Layer parchment paper between treats to keep from sticking together.
  • Keeps up to 6 months.
