What’s not to love about pumpkin spice and everything nice? These frozen homemade pumpkin apple treats are perfect for warm fall days and are sure to get a lick-a-licious response from your fur baby!
This recipe is super easy to make with 3 healthy ingredients. We also add a dash of cinnamon or turmeric to these frozen treats for extra health and anti-inflammatory benefits.
It only takes ten minutes tops to make the mixture and then the freezer does the rest of the work. Let’s whip some up!
Ingredients & Supplies
Pumpkin is a great source of fiber and nutrients for your dog and is especially soothing if your dog has an upset stomach. The important thing to note is that you only use plain pureed pumpkin. Some canned pumpkin is intended for pumpkin pie and has additives like sugar that are not suitable for dogs. So be sure to check the labels.
What you need for this recipe:
½ cup plain pumpkin puree
½ cup plain greek or coconut milk yogurt
1 medium-sized apple
Dash of cinnamon or turmeric (optional)
Freezer-safe silicone molds (The Pupsicle ones are our favs!)
Blender or food processor
Instructions
Wash and peel the apple. Remove the core and dice into small pieces.
Place diced apples, pumpkin puree and yogurt into a blender or food processor. If you desire, you can toss in a dash of cinnamon or turmeric, too (no more than ¼ tsp). Blend until smooth.
Spoon the pumpkin apple mixture into molds.
Cover the molds with plastic wrap or set them inside an airtight container to avoid freezer burn.
Freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Pop the treats out of the silicone mold and serve to your pup!
These homemade pumpkin apple treats should last in a freezer-safe container or bag for up to 2 months.
